AIMS
Automated Inventory Management System
Overview
Inventory count can be a tedious process and can often lead to erroneous tallies. AIMS (Automated Inventory Management System) is a system that is designed to replace this process.
Our Solution: AIMS
AIMS is a conveyor based system that is able to identify objects based on dimensions and colour. Objects are conveyed into a black box, where a line laser and an LED are turned on sequentially. Images are taken within the box and a model is created on a computer. The line laser provides details on the dimensions of the objects, and the LED provides the colour of the objects.
How it Works
The principle behind the 2.5D imaging of AIMS is called Laser Triangulation. Laser triangulation involves the use of a precise laser line through which objects are slowly passed. A camera, fixed at a pre-determined angle, captures momentary snapshots of the object as it travells through the laser light. These images are sent through an object clustering and comparison algorithm that form 2.5D profiles of the item.
